Accomplish a Free Wyoming Probation Search (Record Lookup)

Free Wyoming Probation Search
Find out if someone you know or love is on probation in Wyoming, free of charge.

Conduct a free Wyoming probation search via the quick and convenient process outlined in this resource.

State and county agencies publish details of all Wyoming’s probationers, inmates, and parolees and are freely accessible to the public. Offenders on probation and parole can serve their sentences in the community while being supervised and subject to certain restrictions on their activities.

Judges typically pass down probation as the initial sentence at trial instead of incarceration, while parolees serve part of their sentence behind bars and are granted parole once they demonstrate good behavior or a level of rehabilitation.

This resource provides guidance on how to carry out a probation search for free in Wyoming to find information on convicted felons — such as sentence violations and the supervising parole office.

Perform a Wyoming Probation Search for Free

The details of all current inmates, probationers and parolees are held by the Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC). This information is available online and accessible by the public for free via the WDOCs Offender Locator page.1 The WDOC recommends using ‘Google Chrome’ or the most up-to-date version of ‘Firefox’.

To find records on a particular individual, a probation search in Wyoming can be performed on their WDOC inmate number or their last name. When searching using a name, a minimum of the first two letters is required. Completing any information in the additional fields, such as first name, age or gender, will help narrow down the search results.

It should be noted that all offenders on the database are identified using the full name listed on official court documents. As such, searches can’t be performed on any nicknames or aliases.

All possible results are presented as a list detailing an individual’s first and last names, gender, age and status (probation, inmate, parole etc.). The list can be reordered by clicking on the up and down arrows next to each category title, making it easier to identify and locate the person being searched for.

Clicking on a name will open that particular offender’s profile, allowing the public to view personal information, including:

  • Full Name
  • Status
  • Age
  • Ethnicity
  • Hair & Eye Color
  • Height & Weight
  • Location of the Supervising Probation Field Office

Each profile provides details of the current sentence being served, including information on all offenses, the date of sentencing and the length of each sentence.

Offender profiles on the WDOC website do not feature photos. To obtain a photograph of a probationer, a request should be made at the WDOC Open Public Records website, or through Public Information Office, address and contact information are provided below:2

Check a Probationer’s Violations in Wyoming & Contact Their Supervising Officer

When a probationer violates the terms of their sentence, it can sometimes lead to a judge issuing an arrest warrant. Minor violations may go unreported, but if a felon continually fails to attend court when required, skips town without permission or misses appointments with their probation officer, they could find themselves on a wanted or felons list.

Information on probation violations can be obtained by calling Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) at (307)-777-7208 or making a WDOC Public Records & Information Request.6

Wyoming doesn’t publish a state database for probation violators. However, most counties and major cities publish wanted lists and allow the public to check for people with outstanding warrants against their names. For example:

Natrona County residents can search for individuals on the regularly updated Sheriff’s Office Warrants list.7

The Evansville police department publishes the names and photos of all wanted criminals in the city.8

A current list of bench warrants issued in Gillette is published by the municipal court.

The Department of Corrections operates 25 probation and parole field offices covering every Wyoming county. Members of the public can contact the probation officer responsible for a particular felon by writing or telephoning the parole office listed on the criminal’s Wyoming Department of Corrections profile.

How To Track Down Details of Someone on Parole in Wyoming

Victims and witnesses can find information on parolees throughout Wyoming via the state’s Board of Parole. By registering with the Victim/Witness Notification Program, people receive updates on sentencing, hearings and offender movements, and will be notified when a parolee absconds from supervision.9

The public can track down someone on parole in Wyoming the same way they conduct a probation search. All parolee information is free to access on the Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) Offender Locator.

Searches can be carried out with an offender’s surname or WDOC inmate number. Any additional information provided in the search fields, such as first name, age or gender, helps narrow down the results.

The database only registers names listed in official court records, so searches can’t be performed using an offender’s alias or nickname. Convicted felons matching the search criteria are displayed in a sortable list with their first and last name, gender, age and current sentencing status, which states whether they’re an inmate, a probationer or a parolee.

Each parolee has a profile that provides personal details and sentencing information, including:

  • Full Name
  • Age
  • Hair & Eye Color
  • Height
  • Weight
  • Ethnicity
  • Current Offenses
  • Date & Length of Each Sentence
  • Projected Discharge Date (i.e., when parole is due to finish)

Profiles also include the name of the Probation or Parole Office supervising a parolee, along with its telephone number, which the public can contact for further information. Records not found on the Offender Locator can make a records request through the WDOC Open Public Records website.10

Anyone using the WDOC website to conduct a Wyoming probation search can also view the details of parolees, as the Offender Locator database lists all convicted criminals in the state; for further insights into criminal histories of residents throughout the state, follow the steps for tracking down all WY criminal and arrest records.
